Scandinavian Ceramic Floor Lamp by Antoni Marian Zawadzki for Tilgmans Keramik

$1,750.00

A large, striking ceramic floor lamp by Polish‑Swedish artist Marian Zawadzki for Tilgmans Keramik, Gothenburg. The sculpted base, decorated with foliage, florals, birds and two antelopes, is in very good vintage condition and bears the manufacturer’s hallmark underneath. It retains its original cone‑shaped shade however the beige pleated textile shows some tears and age spots/foxing.

This sculptural lamp is a rare mid‑century discovery that will infuse your space with character.

About the artist:

Tilgmans was founded in Gothenburg in the late 1940s by Finnish‑born ceramicist Paul Harald Tilgmann. After an initial period focused on animal figurines, Tilgmans hired Polish‑born Antoni Marian Zawadzki to broaden the studio’s output. Zawadzki introduced lamps, vases and tabletops—often using the sgraffito technique (Italian for “to scratch”)—and remained with the company until 1970, when he left to establish his own studio. He died in 1978 at age 66.

The floor lamp has been rewired to comply with Australian electrical standards; no other alterations have been made, to preserve the history of this piece. Sourced in Sydney.

Dimensions: H 157cm (including shade) x D 22cm,
