1960's Arched Chrome Floor Lamp with Marble Base by Gofreddo Reggiani
A striking example of Italian Space‑Age lighting by noted designer Goffredo Reggiani. This arched floor lamp, conceived in the 1960s, sits on a soft-grey rectangular counterweight marble base and features a chrome shade and adjustable arm that extends from 130 cm to 180 cm for flexible directional lighting.
The chrome arms have been cleaned and polished but retain some patina and wear consistent with age. The chrome shade shows surface scratches, patina and a dent near the top. The marble base has some losses and surface scratches; one perspex spacer was broken and re-glued by a previous owner — all consistent with vintage use. The lamp has been professionally re-wired to meet Australian electrical standards. No maker’s marks or labels are present. Sourced in Byron Bay.
Dimension: H 180cm × W 80 cm × Shade Diameter 25 cm
About the designer:
Goffredo Reggiani was an influential Italian lighting designer and entrepreneur active from the 1950s through the 1970s. He founded his factory in Brianza, a region famed for industrial craftsmanship, and became known for Space‑Age forms using chrome, opaline glass and teak — think sputnik chandeliers, globe table lamps and trumpet‑diffuser floor lamps. In the 1970s Reggiani developed one of Europe’s first ranges of low‑voltage halogen lamps. His company continues to produce interior and exterior lighting for both private and public projects.
