1980s Chrome Cantilever Nest of Tables with Smoked Glass

$800.00

These striking chrome cantilever nest of two tables are an excellent example of 1980s design sensibility — bold yet restrained, with an emphasis on clean lines and material contrast. The cantilevered tubular chrome frames create a weightless, sculptural silhouette that reads modern and architectural; their simple geometry allows the smoked, tinted glass tops to remain the visual focus while contributing a soft, moody surface that complements the metalwork.

The chrome frames have been polished to restore much of its original lustre; however, there are still light signs of use consistent with age (fine surface scratches and minor pitting visible on close inspection). These imperfections are typical of authentic vintage pieces and add character rather than detract from the overall appeal. The smoked glass tops are in very good vintage condition with only minor signs of use — faint surface marks and the occasional light scuff that do not affect structural integrity or overall appearance.

This set is a versatile piece, ideal as a pair — use separately as side tables flanking a modular sofa or bed, or combined as a low coffee table in front of a contemporary sofa. The lower-profile, cantilever form works particularly well alongside low-lined furniture and minimalist interiors.

No maker’s marks or labels were found. Sourced in Sydney, these tables are offered as anonymous vintage designer pieces — their form and materials align with mainstream 1980s production trends.
